Rice is one of the most typical dishes in the gastronomy of the Costa Brava. You will find it in different dishes, but one of the most common, delicious and typical is rice casserole. It is made in Pals and is marketed under the brand “Arròs de Pals”.

One of the best restaurants on the Costa Brava where you can taste good rice is the Golf de Pals restaurant, specialized in rice cuisine. You will eat in peace, with views of the golf course. It offers a varied Mediterranean menu with seasonal dishes and is recognized for its traditional rice casserole, made with local products.

If you like brothy rice more, order it at the Hotel Mas Salvi restaurant, where they make a delicious brothy rice with bacon and vegetables.

For more refined proposals, reserve a table at the Hotel Sa Punta restaurant, where you can taste their exquisite dried pearl rice in a can with seafood, as well as other traditional seafood dishes. A kitchen directed by Jaume Font and based on fresh products from the Costa Brava.

Palamós Prawn

The Palamós prawn is for fans of fish and seafood, one of the best products of the Costa Brava. It is very intense red in color and that is why it is also called Palamós red shrimp. It is appreciated for its fine, firm and tasty meat. It is fished using the trawling technique and is usually more typical in summer, when more and larger specimens are usually found.

It has the Gamba de Palamós quality guarantee mark certification and is part of the Productes de l’Empordà guarantee mark.

If you want to try it fresh, ask for a table at the Ancora Hotel restaurant. They have been dedicated to the hospitality industry for more than 45 years and every day they bring the freshest shrimp from the Palamós fish market to the restaurant tables. When the product is fresh, it shows!

Do you want a typical, good and very healthy product? Come to L'Escala and try its typical anchovies. Its consumption is highly recommended to maintain a balanced diet, rich in Omega 3, which helps reduce cholesterol levels.

Therefore, there is no excuse to make some anchovies as an appetizer, accompanied by crunchy tomato bread. In some restaurants, you can also eat it in an esqueixada with anchovies.

For example, you can try them at the Can Miquel restaurant, in the same Hotel Can Miquel, located in Cala Montgó. Whether you request a table on the terrace or prefer to eat inside next to the large windows, you will eat with views of the sea, enjoying the gastronomy of the Costa Brava.

DO Empordà Wines

The Empordà is a land of wines. There are 423 winegrowers and about 3.5 million bottles are produced annually. Whether you are into white or red wines, DO Empordà wines are ideal to accompany the dishes of the Costa Brava cuisine.

We propose a guided route through the wineries and vineyards of Empordà led by an official Giroguies guide. You will spend a different and healthy morning, doing a Nordic walk among the vineyards at the foot of the Gavarres. At the end of the walking route, you will visit the winery and do a wine tasting.

When it's time to eat and regain strength, one of the best restaurants on the Costa Brava is the l'Olivera restaurant, where the chef with the most Michelin stars in the Empordà is: Paco Pérez.
