Girona, Temps de Flors: a must-do spring getaway
From May 9 to 17, “Girona, Temps de Flors” takes place. More than a week of street art, music and cultural activities to enjoy one of the most charming cities in the country.
If you haven’t yet attended this festival, here are three reasons to do so and discover one of the most important events in the province, as well as one of the most visually striking and attractive.
3 reasons to visit Girona Temps de Flors
1. Celebrate spring
Can you imagine a city full of flowers? That’s exactly what happens during “Girona, Temps de Flors”. For nine days, the streets, shop windows and terraces of the city are adorned with roses, geraniums, poppies, hydrangeas and petunias, filling the air with their fragrance.
An explosion of colour and scent that captures the essence of spring and turns your visit to Girona into a unique and truly unforgettable experience.
2. Enjoy Girona’s art and architecture
During “Girona, Temps de Flors”, the city is not only covered in flowers but also filled with art and culture. Institutions and local businesses create sculptures and floral compositions displayed throughout the streets for locals and visitors to enjoy.
This year, there will be 92 projects and 85 exhibition points spread across different neighbourhoods: Barri Vell, Carme, Mercadal, Eixample, Sant Daniel, Fontajau, Devesa, Sant Narcís and Santa Eugènia. A great opportunity to discover iconic landmarks such as the Cathedral, Rambla de la Llibertat, the bridges over the Onyar River or the Arab Baths while enjoying the floral installations.
Alongside the main event, various cultural activities also take place, from street concerts to exhibitions and conferences.
3. Taste the local gastronomy
“Girona, Temps de Flors” is an event for lovers of architecture and culture, but also for food enthusiasts. To mark the occasion, the Girona Hospitality Association has created Gastroflors, a gastronomic event where flowers take centre stage. During the festival, you can taste special dishes created by local restaurants for the occasion.
